Fiesta receives S200R FIA Asia-Pacific Homologation PDF Print E-mail

The Ford Fiesta Super 2000R rally car has been approved by the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) for regional homologation.

This homologation enables the car to be entered in all domestic championships in the Asia-Pacific region for which the FIA Super 2000 – Rallies category is eligible as well as the Asia Pacific Rally Championship which includes events in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, New Caledonia, Indonesia, Malaysia and China. In addition, the car is also eligible to compete in Rally Japan and the Repco Rally Australia and Rally New Zealand events which form part of the FIA World Rally Championship.

Atkinson sixth in Germany, now fourth in series PDF Print E-mail

Subaru rally driver Chris Atkinson has finished Rallye Deutschland in sixth place but slipped to fourth in the battle for the 2008 World Rally Championship driver’s title.

Atkinson ended the day where he started, adopting a caution first policy across the five special stages and 78 competitive kilometres, determined to score at least three championship points for his efforts in Germany.

Unfortunately for him, Daniel Sordo, who was two points behind before this event, finished second outright to earn eight points and move up to third place in the Championship.

Toyota Prius' Australian sales top 10,000

A young couple determined to lower their fuel bills and vehicle emissions has bought the 10,000th Toyota Prius to be sold in Australia.

Information technology manager David Balkin and council worker Shannon Larkin said the petrol-electric Prius hybrid supported their lifestyle.
