Marcos Ambrose has held strong to record another solid result in the NASCAR Nationwide Series during the Camping World RV 200 at Dover International Speedway in Dover, Delaware today.
After qualifying 13th fastest around the famed ‘Monster Mile’ earlier in the day, Ambrose started today’s race from the seventh row aboard the #59 Kingsford Tailgate Ford.
During the early part of the 200-lap encounter Ambrose settled into a good rhythm to be placed just outside the top ten. As the race continued he began to battle with a power steering issue in his car, which was making life difficult behind the wheel.
Despite this issue, Ambrose pushed on in an effort to maintain his position inside the top ten in the Nationwide Series Standings. Towards the end of the race he was also forced to endure an ill-handling car due to some crash damage on the rear end which was unsettling the balance of his set-up.
In the latter stages of the race Ambrose was engaged in some close battles before eventually crossing the line 16th in an race that went seven laps beyond its scheduled distance due to a caution period on lap 199. It is the 15th time from the last 18 races that Ambrose has finished inside the top 20.
Kyle Busch won today’s race, his eighth Nationwide victory of 2008, ahead of Mike Bliss and Brad Keselowski.
After 29 races in the Nationwide Series Schedule, Clint Bowyers sits a top of the points standings on 4222 points ahead of Carl Edwards (4036) and Keselowski (3974). Ambrose remains inside the top ten on 3321 points, a mere 60 points adrift of eighth placed Mike Wallace.
Ambrose will next be in action tomorrow when he contests the Camping World RV 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in the #21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford Fusion. He qualified in 29th position yesterday and will therefore start from the inside of the 15th row for tomorrow's race. Prior to today's Nationwide race, Ambrose posted the 36th and 38th fastest times during the final Sprint Cup Series practice sessions.

“With the power steering issue it was a long day out there today but we got there in the end and gained a good haul of points to make sure we stayed inside the top ten in the standings,” said Ambrose.
“I got some damage to the rear of the car midway through the race which peeled some of the boot lid back creating some more downforce in the rear of the car and as a consequence we lost the balance of the car.
“Late in the race I got caught out with some track position but I finished, a lot of others didn’t, and we kept the points ticking along.
“I’m really looking forward to tomorrow, it’s going to be a fun day. I’m proud to have qualified the car on speed, now I’ll just be aiming to go around and get more laps under my belt while staying out the way of the guys battling in the chase.”

Toyota first to export 100,000 cars |

Toyota Australia is set to become the first Australian carmaker to export 100,000 vehicles in a calendar year.
The milestone car is due to be shipped from Melbourne on Christmas Eve, bound for the Middle East.
It will be among more than 2,100 Australian-built Toyota cars leaving Australia that day aboard the Positive Leader. |
